Condolence & Memory Journal

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your loved one. Jeremiah 29:11, 12 assures us that God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, and that if we come and pray to Him, He will listen to us. May you have peace, in this time of deep sorrow.

I remember Lena very well. Lena was a year ahead of me in age but I knew the family through Louie. We ran the streets from the church to the Bolducs, to the Catalanos, to the Clarkes to the Naja,s and home again. Those were te good old days. I left home when I was 16 to join the Air Force staying in there for 26 years thefefore losing track of all the friends I grew up with. The circle of life is happiness and sadness. Believe it or not I thought of Louie and Lena quite often. Rest in peace Lena, we shall meet again someday.

If you have or had an aunt like Lena you are very lucky. Lena, a rock solid Red Sox fan watched the Sox play on Saturday night, went to sleep and didn't wake up on Sunday morning.

She was one of a kind. She didn't have kids of her own so we, the lucky nieces and nephews, got all that love. She was a rule breaker and a surprise planner. I have fond memories of piling in the back of the car with my pajama clad sister, Patty Sweeney Shevchik to be whisked off to the drive-in theater on a Friday night.

Lena loved going to Nantasket Beach but hated traffic and crowds. She would pick up Patty and me at 6:30am for our day at the beach. We were there in time for breakfast at this cool little donut shop followed by a long walk on the beach in sweatshirts. We were often headed home by 10:30 when the other's blankets got a little too close for Lena's comfort.

As fun as she was she was also outspoken and eye opening gruff at times. But she was all ours.

Many of you from Stoughton may remember Lena from Al's Variety Store or as your taxi driver.

We all love you, Aunt Lena, and our world won't be the same without your bigger than life personality. Give our love to the rest of the family.

Love, your nieces and nephews
