Condolence & Memory Journal
Mr. Clark was my English teacher in 1978. Here was such a great guy. He knew how to reach his students with his humor, wit, kindness and understanding. Even though his class was on the 3rd floor I would run up those stairs hoping not to miss anything. Jim always had a smile to share or time to give. Kinda like Mr. Kotter on the TV show, Welcome back Mr. Kotter. You will be missed, always loved and most of all remembered.

Mr.Clark was a teacher who treated the students with the utmost respect and drew the very best from each one. For our family he guided, counciled, cajoled and filled them with confidence to improve. There are no greater words than to say thank you.

Jim was one of the first high school teachers that I became acquainted with when I first came to Stoughton three decades ago. I value and appreciate the many conversations we had over the years. He was a learned man who shared his knowledge, insights, humor, and wisdom with others. Whether it was a discussion relating to literature, history, politics, sports, current events, or the art of teaching, I always came away from each conversation with another book to read or movie to watch upon Jim's recommendation. I will surely miss those conversations. Rest peacefully, Jim.

I never had Mr. Clark at SHS but I was well aware of who he was from those who had him. However,I got to know Jim quite well from seeing him around town and the last few years talking to him at the gym.We would talk about happenings around town and growing up in Stoughton and going to SHS.Even though I never had him as a teacher I learned so much from him from our lengthy talks.Thankyou Jim and may you forever rest in peace.God Bless you always.

I'm saddened to hear of Mr. Clark's passing. Or, as my grandfather Pete McGarvey, a contemporary of Roy's called him, "Little Jimmy Clark." He was an outstanding teacher and friend.

I couldn't have asked for better neighbors than Jim and his parents Roy and Betty. He'll be missed more than he knew. Always happy to lend a hand or a bit of advice. We will both miss those long chats at the gym about anything and everything. So kind when our children were little he'd always bring them Christmas presents, right up through when they needed recommendations for college applications. We'll miss you Jim.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim in the English Department at SHS. I learned so much from him in my first few years of teaching, and he was always willing to teach...a surprise to no one who knew him. Rest in peace Mr. Clark.

Unfortunately I am in Ireland so I regret that I cannot attend Jim's Memorial service. Iris with MUCH sadness that I send my condolences for my friend and former colleague. Jim was a vibrant member of not only the SHS English department but also of the entire SHS staff and STA community. He has left us much too soon, but I can imagine the laughs that he is sharing with Dan Davis and Frank Coen!
With fondest memories and deepest sympathy,
