Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Steve by adding your memories and photos.

Stephen P. Large, 70, a longtime Stoughton resident, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. Born in Portland, ME, he was educated in Stoughton and Canton schools. He was the son of Carol A. Large and the late Patrick B. Large. He married Deborah A. (Greene) Large and they shared nearly 36 years together. Steve and Deb lived in Seattle, WA for a year, where Steve worked as a live-in manager at the Aurora Motor Inn Motel, returning to the Stoughton area in 1986 and getting married. Stephen worked at Canton Fence in Stoughton before working as an auto detailer at Joe Downey Chevrolet in Canton, retiring in 2007. Steve had many skills but was happiest to be working as an auto detailer. His talent didn't go unnoticed. He enjoyed summer vacations to Highland Lake in Maine and to Cape Cod, and trips to the casino to play slots. Steve was a hard worker his whole life. A gentle soul, Steve always wanted to help others. He loved animals and over the years adopted numerous cats and dogs. Soon after buying their first home in 1988, Steve built an outdoor enclosure for the cats to be able to outside and be safe. He was a member of the Humane Society.

Steve was the brother of the late William F. "Billy" Large. He is survived by his brothers, Patrick D. Large, Joseph Large, John "Jack" Satkiewicz and Patrick T. Large, and his sisters, Susan Large Crowley, Donna O'Brien, Theresa Ibbitson and Evelyn St. Germaine. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He also leaves his dog, Gracie and two cats, Sammie and Moe.

Funeral Services private. Donations in Stephen's memory may be made to the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts, 1300 West Elm Street Ext., Brockton, MA 02301.
