Condolence & Memory Journal

To Mel's Family, I am so very sorry to learn of the sudden loss of your Mom. I know she was the backbone of your family with her love, faithfulness, support and encouragement. Each of you must be constantly thanking God for the awesome gift of your Mom's life-giving love. It is never easy to lose someone as precious as your Mom; however, I am praying that you will always remember the joy Mel created and picture her now in the peace and presence of her Lord and Savior. I know your Mom and Dad, Mary, Bob, John and James are praying for each of you until that day when you will all be together again for all eternity. Until then, we can all strive to live in the spirit of Mel's unconditional love and bring honor to her memory. My love and prayers are with you, Carol (Boudreau) Irwin

To Aunt Mel's family, we extend sincere condolences on the passing of your wonderful, kind, and loving mom. As double-first cousins, Aunt Mel and Uncle Tony's family and ours here in Newfoundland ((Margaret and Con's) have always shared a special bond, which only seemed to grow stronger over the years. Mel's home and heart were always open to each of us as if we were her own. As the last remaining sibling from both the Griffin and Smith families, she will be especially missed by her many nieces and nephews.

We're never really ready when a loved one leaves this world.
There's always so much left we want to say.
We long to turn back time and tell them all that's in our hearts.
We think, if only I had one more day

We catch ourselves recalling little moments that we shared and smile at every sweet remember when
We tell our favorite stories, and laugh and cry and sigh, and somehow we feel close to them again.

We're never really ready when it's time to say good bye but slowly we accept what has to be, letting go of what we must, but keeping those we love forever close to us in memory.

Kelly as you and your family go through life's greatest sorrow of losing your grandmother.
May your own faith in GOD sustain you,
bringing you comfort today,
courage for tomorrow and hope in your heart always

I last saw Aunt Mel in September, 2009, a quick visit that I managed to take while in the Waltham area for work. She gladly chatted with me for a few hours about the family and she reminisced to me about growing up in Newfoundland. She was kind and hospitable and sharp as a tack! She was a good person and helped put a lot of good people out into the world via a large extended family. My condolences to you all.

To my cousins in Stoughton. Prayers and love to you all. It is with a heavy heart and my eyes filled with tears. Aunt Mel was such a mild and loved person. Her visits to Newfoundland with her husband and family was something I always looked forward to. Kelly, I'm sending love to you today. Aunt Mel will surely be missed. She was a strong pillar for your family. When we talked on the phone and reminisced about home and my Dad {Matt - her brother}, her mild voice, she was such a pleasure to talk to. Aunt Mel, thank you for being such a wonderful person, we will truly miss you. May you rest in peace.
