Joseph J. Gorham, 67, a longtime resident of Brockton, died peacefully at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham on Sunday, June 28th surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Elaine C. (Michaels) Gorham for 45 years. Son of Claire V. (Hennessey) Gorham of Stoughton and the late Thomas F. Gorham, Jr., he was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester. Joe attended Catholic Memorial High School before graduating from Milton High School, Class of 1970. He earned his Associate Degree from Franklin Institute of Technology. He served 6 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a resident of Weymouth for 25 years before residing in Brockton for the past 19 years. Joe was an automotive mechanic for 10 years, finishing at Landfall Auto in Hingham before working as an Emergency Medical Technician for Eascare Ambulance in Dorchester for 37 years until his retirement in 2017. He also served as an Auxiliary Firefighter for the Town of Milton. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially on trips to New Hampshire.
In addition to his wife and his mother, Joe is survived by his children, Brittany M. Ramos and her husband Joe of Stoughton and Matthew J. Gorham and his wife Anne of Middleboro. He was the grandfather of Ethan Ramos, Lucas Ramos, Grace Gorham and Faith Gorham. He was the brother of Thomas F. Gorham, III and his wife Janice of Worcester and Virginia C. Gorham of Lynn and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, July 1 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Mass will be private. Masks and social distancing guidelines are required at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's name may be made to Gardner Group Inc. d/b/a On Site Academy, PO Box 448, Westminster, MA 01473.
