Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Donna by adding your memories and photos.

Donna M. (Bannon) Cross, 77, died Friday, September 4, 2020, at her home in Avon, surrounded by her beloved family, after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Cross, who died April 1st of this year. Born in Boston, daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Silva) Bannon, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Mrs. Cross was a resident of Avon for over 50 years. She worked as a hairdresser at Cut & Curl in Stoughton for over 46 years, retiring several years ago. Donna enjoyed spending time outdoors by her pool, swimming and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and camping. In the winter, she enjoyed skiing and snowmobiling. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Cross is survived by her children; Robert S. Cross, Jr. and his longtime partner Donna Lucas of NH, Lisa M. Cross of Canton and Nicole P. Cross of Avon. She was the grandmother of Summer L. Pacheck. Donna was the sister of Patricia Junta of Harwich, Ann Smith of Lakeville, Charles Bannon of Stoughton, John Bannon of Norton and Thomas Bannon of Middleboro. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, A Celebration of Donna and Bob's lives will be scheduled in the future, hopefully in the spring of 2021. Donations in Donna's memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, 02115. Obituary and directions at www.farleyfh.com.

I am so sorry to hear of your losses this year. Donna was my mother's and my hair stylist for many years, though long ago now. May her memory be eternal.

To the Cross Children, I am so sad to hear that Donna passed away, and I can't imagine how difficult it has been to lose both your parents in such a short time. My heart aches for you and all the family. I loved working with them over the years in my professional capacity, but more than that I considered them friends. I so enjoyed our visits which were 10% business and 90% a cup of coffee, a muffin and casual talk about all sorts of things. I will miss them very much. If there is anything I can do to help going forward, please let me know.

Donna was my Mother's and then my hairstylist for years.
I reconnected with her over the past year and a half or so, stopping by her house to visit with her and Bob on my way to Brockton to bring my brother to a doctor's appointment. I was so glad I got to see her again and visit. It reminded me of what wonderful people she and her husband were. Donna was so easy to talk to and had a great sense of humor! She loved her family so much and truly enjoyed life. She will be greatly missed!
