Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Dick by adding your memories and photos.

Henry Richard "Dick" Fallon, 85, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2020 following a long illness. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara J. (Kiernan) Fallon. Son of the late Henry L. and Margaret (Ryan) Fallon, he was born and raised in Boston. Dick was a graduate of Stonehill College, Class of 1957 and joined the Air National Guard where he went to Denver, CO to join a new program to study photography. And that he did. As one of the most recognized news photographers in the Boston area, he went on to work for the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Brockton Enterprise and even a brief stint at the National Enquirer. He was a member of the Press Photographers Association. His greatest joy was spending time at his cottage at Blue Fish Cove in Brant Rock and relaxing with his with family.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his children, Donna Cavanaugh of Whitman, Barbara Harris and her husband Bill of Stoughton, Patricia Hurley and her husband Jack of Bridgewater, Richard Fallon of Taunton, Joseph Fallon of Quincy and James Fallon of Stoughton. He was the brother of Col. Paul Fallon (USAF Retired) and his wife Ann of Texas and Jeanne Messmer and her husband William of Braintree. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, funeral services private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's name may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 10 Chandler Street, Boston, MA 02116.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Very sad to hear of Dick’s passing. Dick helped me get hired at The Enterprise back in 1980, mostly, I think, because he knew I loved chasing news and to say that was his passion is an understatement. He was always first on the scene and he knew EVERYBODY!
His memory of people and events was astonishing and the stories could go on forever.
Over the thirty years of working together, we shared so much but it was always his love of his family that was at the top of the list.
Rest In Peace, Dick .

My father Dan Murphy of the old Boston Herald always talked fondly of Dick Fallon! They had a great crew and despite moving on to a new career my father always spoke glowingly of his time and friends at the Herald.
Your father among the finest! God bless you all!

I have fond memories of visiting Dick and my dad, Craig Murray, in the news room of the Enterprise. He would always ask if I could count my freckles and tell me that when I get older they will all run together.... and they did! I now tell my red head the same silly story.
