João A. Freitas, 64, a resident of Raynham, formerly of Stoughton, died peacefully at Morton Hospital in Taunton on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. He was the husband of Linda E. (Lorimer) Freitas for 46 years. Son of the late Jorge A. and Maria Natalia (Jorge) Freitas, he was born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal before moving to Stoughton in 1969. João moved to Raynham 2 years ago. He was a supervisor at J.F. Leasing in Canton for 30 years before working at U.P.S. in Norwood for 10 years. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed watching football and soccer but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, João is survived by his daughters, Ellen C. Cunningham and her husband Brandon and Amanda J. Grant and her husband Kevin all of Stoughton and Cynthia L. Ramos and her husband Kevin of Raynham. He was the loving "Papa" of Halee, Danica, Logan, Ava, Shane, Colin, Noah and Avery. He was the brother of Tina DeFreitas of London, Ontario, Canada and the late Anibal Freitas and John Freitas and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, funeral services are private with interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in João's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
