Elizabeth "Bette" Arlene (Thompson) Daly, 94, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Friday, November 19, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Francis M. Daly. Daughter of the late Edward L. and Marjorie (Wilbar) Thompson, she was born and raised in Brockton, MA. Elizabeth was very proud of her heritage being a descendant of John Alden and Priscilla Mullin (Mayflower) on her maternal side and Revolutionary volunteer Thomas Putnam on her paternal side. She was a graduate of Brockton High School with the Wartime Class of 1945 and also a graduate of The Williams School in Brockton. Married to Francis M. Daly she was a resident of Stoughton since 1951 where she was active in many organizations while raising their family. First and foremost was her dedication to the Methodist Church where she was a church school teacher and served on many other committees. Elizabeth was a member of the Mayflower Society and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution-Deborah Sampson Chapter where she served as treasurer and as Washington appointed volunteer to the Brockton VA Medical Center. She was elected Town Meeting Member and served for 8 terms in Stoughton.

Bette and her late husband especially loved spending summers at Lake Shore Park on Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, NH. She also enjoyed winters in Arizona, traveling, genealogy, scrabbling, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. The pride and joy of Bette's life was her 5 daughters, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is survived by Debra A. Baldwin and her husband Cecil, Daphne M. Daly and her husband James Eroh and Deanna A. Van Horn and her husband Donald all of Tucson, AZ, Dawn M. Daigle of Gilford, NH, Denise E. Daly of Stoughton and dear friend Glenn Maling. She was the beloved grandmother of Albie DiStefano, Sean and Sarah Daigle, Chelsea and Rachel Van Horn, Stephen Maling and David Penney and great-grandmother of Luke and Olivia DiStefano and Henry and Theodore Maling. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Makepeace of Easton, niece Brenda Gary and sister in law Barbara (Daly) Canavan and her family of Stoughton.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Stoughton in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bette's memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 103 Pleasant St., Stoughton, MA 02072.

To the Daly family. I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. She was such a beautiful lady, always kind, with a beautiful smile. Growing up in the Methodist Church, I remember her fondly at many of the church functions, and having her as a Sunday School teacher. R.I.P. Mrs. Daly.

Over twenty years ago Bette, alng with a number of us now in our nineties, was an active member of the Deborah Sampson Chapter of the DAR. She was a joy to work with. We have especially fond memories of the year she joined us at the national convention in Washington DC. I think I speak for all of us when I say how glad we are to have known her.
