Obituary

Robert E. Audlee, Sr. "Bob", age 92 of Stoughton, died January 1, 2021 at home after a brief illness under the care of hospice. He was the beloved husband of June A. (White) Audlee for over 72 years. Bob was born and raised and lived most of his life in Stoughton; the son of the late Gerald Audlee Sr. and Hazel (Fralick) Audlee.

Bob joined the Army Aircorps at the age of seventeen in March, 1946 and earned the rank of Sergeant. Serving in the South Pacific, he was stationed primarily on Iwo Jima, and was also stationed on Saipan and Tinian. Bob also served in Germany during his service, taking part in the Berlin Airlift. Upon his Honorable Discharge in March, 1949, Bob returned home to his bride and began to build his home in Stoughton with the help of his uncles and brother, on land purchased by June while he was serving, and before the two were married. Bob worked for many years at the Avon Sole company and ended his working career at Ryan Iron Works in Raynham. He also ran his own small repair business, Bob's Radio and TV during the 60's and 70's. Upon retirement, Bob and June would take daily, early morning walks around D.W. Field Park in Brockton, where they made many new friends.

Bob leaves two children, Robert E. Audlee, Jr. of Leominster, and his former wife Laurel Trenouth, also of Leominster, and Lisa J. (Audlee) Vilk of Middleborough and her husband, John L. Vilk, Jr. and two granddaughters, Rebecca Vilk of Taunton and Jessica Vilk of Middleborough. Bob was the eldest of eleven children, leaving surviving siblings John (Jackie), Judith and Janice, and was predeceased by his siblings Phyllis, Gerald Jr., Ronald, James, Laurence (Sampy), Dorothy and Rosalind. He was also "Uncle Bob" to dozens of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank hospice, and particularly Bob's overnight caregivers for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time. To honor Bob, please give a kind word to, or do a good deed for someone who needs it. Due to COVID no services will be held at this time. A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Stoughton, MA at a later date. Burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
